We are delighted to introduce you to our ACCA Lead Tutor, Paul Kirkwood.

Paul trained as a chartered accountant in London with Baker Tilly and audited businesses of all sizes from small owner managed companies up to FTSE 100 listed companies. After qualifying he was seconded to the training division of Baker Tilly where his passion for teaching was ignited. To further develop his teaching career he moved to an accountancy training company where he taught all of the main professional accountancy qualifications specialising in financial accounting and assurance papers.

When Paul was studying for his accountancy exams he always enjoyed tutors that could bring the subject alive by drawing on past experiences and relating the topics being studied to real life examples and so he moved on to join a management consultancy where he specialised in developing and implementing internal training programmes for clients such as Marks and Spencer, Dixons and Prudential.

Before moving back into exam training Paul headed up the internal audit and asset protection department of KFC in the UK and later for a European hotel company. Paul joins Home Learning College after spending 8 years in London as a senior tutor with Kaplan Financial teaching ACCA and CIMA courses.

Paul is passionate about getting his students through the exam and brings his training sessions to life by using real life examples to engage participants and enhance the learning experience. Have a look at just one of the ways Paul brings ACCA to life.

Outside of the classroom Paul enjoys running and has completed three marathons in recent years – although he vows never ever ever again!
